Information

In Southall, he worked in a jam factory that was close to the station. He went to work in Linton Cambridgeshire and  initially worked for Cambridgeshire County Council on road and roadside maintenance  around the area. He then  moved to work at Linton's water mill until 1929 when he went to work for Marriages the millers at Croxton Mill, Great Waltham.

As part of his work, as well was running the  mill single handed, he looked  after cows that grazed in the fields near the mill.  During the first part of the war he kept  working at Croxton's Mill, but when the  iron water wheel broke and  couldn't be mended, he transferred to Marriage's Mill at Chelmsford. After a time he left milling and worked at Marconi's Chelmsford as a cleaner / labourer. Charles died of Rheumatic Pericarditis.
